Chapter 18: Alone?

We rejoin the Winters-Gables boys in the kitchen where Michael is tossing up a quick lunch...

Ian: This is so the last time you're cooking Mike!
Jake: Why Ian?
Ian: 'Cos we're eating Autumn SALAD for lunch
Jake: You're kidding!

Michael: 'Ey go easy on me.... I grew up with a veggie mom!
Jake: M'kay

 Ian: We still owe the bank $8000 for the house.... how the hell will we make it..... 

Ian: Hey Jakey, You know that loan?
Jake: Mmm hmm....
Ian: We need to pay it off.... talk to me over dinner?
Jake: Yeah....

Ian: Ayt, so we need to make $8000 to pay off the loan and we best do it within these 2 months because otherwise interest makes it $10000.... I had agreed with Jake that he'd be the first to know, BUT since you're here.....

Michael: Well I think there's a FAST way to make quick cash...
Ian: Enlighten me....
Michael: Fishing...... I'm a pretty good angler, so I think I can manage....
Ian: Ayt cool, I'll get a normal job, so will Jake, and you fish.....

Michael: So what job you gettin'?
Jake: I talked to Mr. Heart at the supermarket, and he said I could be a counter-boy.... If I work every afternoon for 7 hours, 7 days a week, I can make $1000! Sweet huh?
Michael: Yeah, totally! What's Ian doing?
Jake: Well he's got a sweet spot in the librarian's heart, so she agreed to give him a managing position in the bookstore... that makes $3000 dollars if he works overtime for 2 hours, 7 days a week.
Michael: So I have to make $4000? Gotta get to the sea then 'ey mate?

Michael: Hello? Is this Everfresh Delights? Yeah, I'm Michael Winters, an angler. Do you happen to know which fish is in biggest demand this month? Catfish? The Siamese ones? Oh.... 

Michael: So if I had to make say, $4000, hpw many would I need to catch? 47? Woah... Alright... by when? In a month!? Right... Cheerio.... see you in a month.

Michael sat for hours on end catching measly little catfish
Michael: Come fishy fishy! Mikey's got a wormy for ye!

 Michael: Got you squirt! Just 46 more and I got meself $4000!

A month later Michael went to Everfresh Delights with a whopping 50 Siamese Catfish! Now was the moment of truth!

Michael: $4300! I did it!

 That night:
Ian: After a month of all that stretching I made $3000.... You Jake?
Jake: $1000 from me as promised... Mike?
Michael: $4300! 

 Ian: You're joking
Jake: Good on ye mate!

 Jake: 'Ey Mike, Rylee , my girlfriend is coming over in two days

Jake: She lives in Appaloosa, but only comes down when she needs to write an exam... she's doing a course at our school.....

 Michael: That's really awesome, does Ian have a girlfriend too?

Jake: Not a girlfriend per se, she's a friend with benefits, nowhere close to my Rylee.

Michael: Who is she?
Jake: Claire Parks
Michael: NO WAY!
Jake: How d'you think he got a loan that easily?
How will the boys cope with Rylee being in town? Will Claire Parks get in the way of Ian's future? Will Michael find a maiden for himself? Next time folks!
